  • Showcasing Your Business - Purpose and Intent according to your chosen option

  • The Feeling You Get when you Look at Your Website

Don’t be discouraged, learning how to showcase yourself on your website isn’t as hard as you might think. From your business point of view have a look at what you like and what you may like to change, then ask yourself why you feel that way.

Does your site encourage a calm and relaxing feel, is it more clean and clinical, or is it a big old mess and it feels exactly how 2020 is going. The overall feel of your website is vital, you want your audience to feel comfortable and confident so they want to come back again and again.

For example, if you don’t like how you are portrayed, i.e. your message isn’t clear, ask yourself, what is the number one thing I can do for my clients?

Ask yourself this (and ask your clients too):
My clients think of me as the __________ expert I help them do ___________(result) and
____________(result) without ___________(not solving this hurdle).
This is your starting point as you through the rest of your answers we will build on giving you a clear outline of what action to take.

That is a great place to start turning your website into a connection machine so to take it even further by taking a step back to look at your website from a business point of view. Have a look at what you like and don’t on your site and then ask yourself why you feel that way.

  •
I am glad you understand that having a clear CTA on your website is a vital part of your marketing. It helps with your audience's experience as there are clear pathways to action. Remember to check your stats to ensure you are getting value from them and update when
    needed.

  •
Understanding that you are leaving both money on the table and lowering your user experience by not having a clear call to action on your pages. CTA’s are a vital part of your marketing. It helps with your audience's experience as there are clear pathways to action and It also allows you to collect names and emails or to take action such as booking a consultation etc.

Without it, you are simply leaving your audience hanging, it’s like flirting with someone you like, then asking them out and then instead of getting their phone number you are just walking away, just like you may have lost a potential date you may have also lost a potential customer.
Some simple to create CTA’s are:
    ● Book a consult button (or link) that takes them to a booking form. You can get a free account from places like calendly which allow this to happen very quickly.

    ● Add a signup button for a simple checklist on something you do and convert it to a pdf (see training here of ebook creation) and then add a form from an email provider such as Mailerlite (have a free account), Mailchimp (have limited free account) and more. Just google email providers for lots of different providers.
    ● Connect with me on Facebook (or any social media platform) - add an icon for the URL to your profile. It may not be as powerful as some of other CTAs but if you are active on the platforms and your audience can come over and see that and engage with you there. So add one today at least to your home page and start connecting with your audience.

  •
I see you understand the power of marketing and the importance of CTA if you have it on your main pages that are a great start and sometimes on secondary pages a simple link page to the main page can be a quick and simple solution.

A simple example is on a blog post, you could simply have a link at the bottom saying “For training that goes deeper into this subject and more check out my courses here”

  •  Are you Collecting Emails Address from your Audience

It is excellent that you are collecting emails. I hope along with that you are making sure that you are engaging with the email list you have created by sending emails out on a regular basis.

As to how often you send them it depends on your list, your business and your audience needs. Just remember to make them not all sales emails, give content, relevant bits of knowledge and advice, give value 75% of the time and sales content 25% and your audience will love it.

  • Are you Collecting Emails Address from your Audience

So you are not collecting emails, can I ask you why. If your answer is you believe emails don’t get read, then I must let you know, that simply isn’t true!. Statistics say emails are still one of the most valuable ways to connect with your audience. With 80% of business professionals believing that email marketing increases customer retention. (read more here). So It is time to think about what you can offer your audience in exchange for an email address.

For example, you can offer an ebook, checklist, cheatsheet, video training and so much more. Have a look at this article where I show over 30 different lead magnet ideas.

  • Email Marketing Getting Results

It is great that you have a system in place to collect email, and yes it is hard to get results. It requires consistently sending out emails, testing content, offers and headlines and it requires assessing what is working and what is not. Mailerlite talks here about having an automation workflow which is a great idea.

If you are not getting the results you desire it may be worth doing some split testing and tweaking to see if the content is good but the copy isn’t connecting.
Some things you can do are:
    ● Reach out to anyone who has signed up for your lead magnet and ask for feedback.
    ● Assess how it is presented on your website
    ● Assess the funnel that you have in place starting from the signup to delivery and in the
10 days after and ensure everything is working
    ● If everything seems good to try some split tests. Here is an article that explains how you
    can do it from Mailerlite

  • The Feeling You Perfect Client gets when you Look at Your
    Website

Having a website that is a little confusing and not clear for your client is letting yourself down. When your perfect clients visit your website, they should feel like you are able to solve the problem they have or the reason they are  searching or have clicked over to your site. If it is hard to see how you can help they will simply click away.

Define the problem you can solve for your client and use this information as the basis of your website wording. Ask yourself these questions
    - How am I serving my product
    - How am I serving my customer
    - How can I serve them simply and effectively
    - What is the overall benefit for them
For example a fitness coach .
    - I am serving women and men ages 30 - 45 years that have never been fit before,
    - I serve them by focusing all my training on small results and praise, as this motivates
    them to continue.
    - To make sure I connect with them my programs are a step by step solution to learn exercise and movement, eating better and reward for effort.
    - By serving my audience this way I set them up for success not and in the future and make life long habits.
So now with the focus of your ideal client you can reword your website content and start growing your business.

Think about when people come to your site directly to your home page what do they see, usually a logo and a menu followed by maybe a banner etc. The menu is where everyone goes to check out more pages.

As you have kept it simple you are on the right track, as your business grows you can add a sub menu and extended menu to keep that simple but effective navigation system.

It allows your clients to feel your consistency and it makes them feel you are a more reliable business for them to work with.

In saying this there are ways to use the same colours and change the look stutley by using shades and tints. Go here add your colour hex code and you will see complimentary colours, shades and tints.

  • Branded Colours and why they are Important

Using branded colours or even consistent colours throughout your website is a foundational part of building a website. If the colours that the theme gives you are working that is great otherwise it is pretty simple to create your own colour palette and apply it to your website. Go here to this training for more details.

  • Fonts and Easy Reading

I love fonts and type styles and you should love how they can change your website and the feel quickly. Having inconsistent fonts is ok on different sales pages (if you must) but having the same fonts on your main pages once again adds to the consistent feel of your site.

A heading font and a content body font is the main way of doing it, but in today’s market you can also add a secondary heading font to give your site more depth.

Canva has a great guide to understanding font pairing and how they will work on your site. Go here to read it.                                                                      Another thing to think about is what fonts may be associated with what. For example any of these fonts are seen as casual and relaxed                                 Whereas these serif type fonts are seen as more traditional and classy                And your san serif fonts as more no nonsense or powerful depending on the weight of the font                                                                                          Taking the time to learn the value and importance of a great font can definitely be worth the time. • Letting Your Heading Tags do their Job

A heading on a website performs a similar function to a heading you see in print. A big difference is on a website it is for appearance but also for search engines to find and index your pages. THIS ANSWER IS NOT NEEDED FOR 5A

Here is some best practices from themeisle.com and you can read the rest of the article here
    ● Normally we use only one H1 tag for a page, and you’ll most likely find it for the heading.
    ● H1 to H3 tags should suffice on most pages. H4 – H6 tags may be stretching it a bit, unless the page is really text heavy.
    ● Maintain hierarchy while using the heading tags, meaning use the tags in numerical order H2, followed by H3, H4… Don’t skip a level.
    ● Ensure that your keyword is included in H2. This is because Google looks for keyword presence in the title and keyword density in the content while searching and ranking content. There’s no necessity for an exact keyword match.
    ● Keep a limit for the number of words that you cram between the header tags. Don’t pack in whole sentences or paragraphs.
    ● It’s not advisable to use the same keywords in heading tags across different web pages on your site.
    ● Do not use header tags simply to make some elements standout. To style any specific element on your website, use CSS.

Here is a tutorial on how to add them from themeisle.com and you can read the rest of the article here

You can add header tags in WordPress in 4 ways,
    1. You can manually type the header tags in the Text Editor in WordPress.
    2. You can just as easily do it using the Visual Editor.                                      3. If you’re more comfortable working with the, keyboard, use Alt+Shift+Numbers 1-6
    4. Staying with the keyboard, you can also use the octothorpe or hash keys
Or I use Beaver Builder and either add a heading block or select

  • Be Found with Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

SEO or Search Engine Optimisation is about making it easy for search engines such as Google, Bing etc. to find and index your website. SEO allows the search engines to assess your information, publish your site and rank it against similar websites.

This means without SEO the search engines algorithms find it harder to rank your site and your audience find it hard to search for you on the web. As you are already using SEO you should already be seeing the benefits. If not, start assessing your google analytics to get better results.

Having a mobile friendly or responsive website is not an option these days it is necessary. No longer is it safe to assume that your audiences are only coming from a computer to your site, there is a big chance they are looking at it from a mobile or tablet.

To see how your website looks on different devices check it out here

You might have found it looked great or totally a mess. As you weren’t sure this could simply be because the theme that you are using was set up to be mobile responsive (and that is the case with many themes). If it is all over the place you can get a better theme, use a plug and play editor like beaver builder to make it happen or you can hire someone to do it for you.

    Maintenance

If you have ever wondered why you need to update your plugin, themes and setting regularly there are a couple of reasons.
    1. Compatibility - by keeping them up to date you help all the components stay compatible with each other. As the web and website platforms are ever evolving ecosystems with constant improvement and growth.

You need updates to make this happen and if you don’t update regularly what may happen is there has been a series of changes since your last update and it can conflict and cause issues on your site. Or even worse the white screen of death.

    2. Improves security - updates include the latest security batches so if you don’t update you do have them and you are more susceptible to hacking

    3. Performance - plugins, themes and setting all work together to create a high
performance website so if you are not using the latest versions you may not be getting the latest performance tools.

From a visitor to your website point of view don’t you hate it when you click on a link and it goes somewhere wrong or a dead site. Now if one or two happen from a site you think ok these things happen but if you are consistently finding broken links you feel like they really mustn’t care about the little things and it tarnishes you desire to check out more or even do business with them.
From a business point of view there are a couple of problems with broken links. First is as above customer experience. Secondly it can hurt your search engine rankings and it seems silly to put the work in originally to let it later cause you issues.

You can check them manually page by page or you can use your Google Search Console to detect them

Backing up your site is something you should do regularly, as you are currently backing up your site, I would just ask you, to confirm with how it backs up that you know the restore process. Why I say this is that it is really frustrating having a backup and then finding it is so complicated to restore or your backup is riddled with errors when the backup is needed in an emergency situation.

If you want your own solution there are plugins that do it for you I use All-in-migration and do a manual backup each time I do any major updates and I also have my host doing daily backups.
